A few little dreams!

Even when I was a little girl I loved posing for photo's,
I did a modeling course at 6 years old but mum pulled the pin when it caused me to have a negative self image and eating disorder as a 7 year old.

I grew up and put on a lot of weight so modeling was never something I was confident enough to do!

In May 2009 my Mum and I made a vow to put our bad weight behind us and went and got lap band surgery!
After losing 20kg and Mum losing 50kg I fell pregnant just after My husband and I got married.

After putting most of my worked of Kg's back on during pregnancy I was very worried it wouldn't come back off after hearing a lot of women say how hard it was to lose baby weight!

I am happy to say I am back to Pre Baby weight and was before my Son was 6 months old!

Here are some of my recent shoots and catwalk shows since having my little man.
Enjoy

Oh Dear,

Today I understand the old saying "You learn something new everyday".

I now know not to leave my 7 month old son laying on the floor next to a pile of catalogues while I run to the bathroom!

I come out to find Master 7 Month old eating paper!!

Lesson well learned I must say!

 Mr Innocent!

Revenge!!

Wisdom Tooth-0

Yesterday morning I called my dentist that I have gone to since I was a young child, they informed me that the wisdom tooth specialist was only there once a month and they would call me back to make an appointment with the woman that deals with him.
Going close to 40 hours I am still waiting for that call.

Lucky my mother hen got me straight into her dentist after telling them the infection was down my throat.
They extracted the infected tooth and I am one happy but swollen mummy once again

Wisdom Tooth

Today I have a beautifully swollen face,

Infected wisdom tooth has made me, Sore, Tired and Very Sooky.

Why do we even need these nasty big teeth when most of the time we have to pay a lot of money to have the extracted!

Do we actually get "wisdom" from them??
Or just learn to take them out as soon as they decide to show themselves?!

If it wasn't bad enough to cut this infecting tooth while I was pregnant but now for the second time in Two Months its infected!

My dear "wisdom tooth" I'm evicting you!
Consider this your final warning!

While I Was Searching..

While I was searching the Internet for recipes to try with my 7 month old son I couldn't help but notice that every site I went onto had a "Breast Is Best" comment at least once on each site, some even having a pop up asking if you agree!
While I agree with the "Breast Is Best" motto I can't push it as I only feed for 6 weeks due to no supply.

I personally think that there is a lot of pressure put on Mothers to Breastfeed and if you are anything like me you try so hard to make everyone happy that it just ends up falling apart!
I spent all day everyday feeding and pumping trying to make up my supply as well as eating all the foods they tell you will help, drinking plenty of water and taking milk supply drops!
I felt like I had failed my newborn but when he got oral thrush and then it was passed through to my nipples it was like razor blades every time I fed him and I was still treating it a month after I started on formula.

I really admire the Mothers that can exclusively feed their babies but I also admire the Mums that take a stand and don't Breastfeed because its not for everyone and they cop a lot of negative comments and feed back for not trying.

I'm glad that I could give my Son a good start by giving him what little milk I did have!

Keep Smiling!

Dear Teething Baby..

I was very "Lucky" when my Son started teething at 2 and a 1/2 months,
Finally at 1 week shy of 7 months we have two little pearls that have broken through.

I, like most mum's, was super excited when I placed me finger in his drool filled mouth to find two little sharp bumps.
I knew they were very close to showing up and after a few restless nights and chomping or everything for some relief, it got me thinking of other tried and tested ways to help soothe sore gums while teething.

Amber Necklace: Some people swear by these expensive necklaces, I bought one to see if it would make any difference (kept it on his ankle to sleep). Personally I didn't find much difference maybe if I had use it religiously over a few weeks but I would take it off for baths and clothing changes, mostly it would get in the way and I would get annoyed.

Damp Cool Wash Cloth: My Son will/would not take to a wash cloth for any longer than 30 seconds. I don't think he  liked the texture in his mouth but he will however chew in a cold nappy wipe.

Teething Gel: One of the most useful things in my nappy bag, I tend to only leave it for nights after his last bottle so he doesn't get used to the numbing sensation.

Teething Rings: Another tried and tested item that failed in my house, My little man would throw it away and just chew on  his fingers.

Teething Rusks: A big hit with my man from about 4 months on, Apart from being a little messy they are great.

As my bub uses a dummy he is normally chewing on the side of that too.

Welcome, Heres a small intro..

Hey Dolls,
Welcome to my blog!
My name is Jay.

Young Mum's Guide To Survival was inspired by the birth of my precious Son Toby Martin!

Before I was reading a lot of books, stories and forums on when my babe should be doing certain things, signs of sickness and pretty much everything else under the blue moon!

I worry more than I probably should and every single day I find out something new about my Boy I didn't know the day before!

Young Mum's Guide is about my experiences of becoming a mum, pregnancy, birth and other random or interesting things I find along the way on my journey through motherhood!

I am 21 years old and have been told on occasions that I am too young to be a mum!!
My son was planned and I had been married for 2 months when I fell pregnant :)
